3 Perfect Spring Lip Products – all under £9!

There’s been some absolutely beautiful new lip products on the high street this last few months, but I wanted to look at three in particular.

It’s nice to have options, so I’ve picked out my current favourite balm, ‘gloss’ and lipstick – but these all have a gloss-finish, and light enough tones to bring a bit of sunshine or sparkle to your spring day.  The products featured are all high-street (or ‘drugstore’ if you must…), so affordable as well as adorable.

All photographed in daylight, using no primer or lipliner (hence the less than perfect appearance – yeah, we’ll blame the lack of lipliner), with a light application.

1. Revlon Lip Butter – 025 Peach Parfait
£7.99 Boots

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait. In sunlight, see the gold?

This sparkling peachy shade feels extremely hydrating on the lips, and is subtle enough for barely-there spring makeup. When it catches the light it has glistening gold flecks, that remind me of Nars’ cult favourite Orgasm blush. Pair the two for a super-glam night look.

2. Loreal L’Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick – 500 Molto Mauve
£8.99 Boots

L’oreal L’extrodinaire liquid lipstick in Molto Mauve – swatched on lightly

Is it a gloss? Is it a lipstick? Do we care (probably not)… but L’Oreal’s recent offering is a more oily-gloss, so rather than the usual sticky texture of a lipgloss, you get a smooth balm feel from the application, but it does have the opaque colour of a lipstick when applied in more than one light coat.

As you can see in the photo, this was very lightly applied, I find the colour perfect for my complexion, and it works to top off a ‘polished’ barely-there makeup look.

3. Revlon Colorburst Laquer Balm – 130 Tease
£7.99 Boots

Revlon Colorburst Laquer Balm in Tease – a bright tomato-hued orange

The gloss/lacquer version of the Colorburst crayons; this goes on smoothly and does a good job of hiding dry parts of the lips (unlike it’s original version!). I’d usually pair this with a lip liner as find it a bit smudgy on my mouth, but it’s a glorious tomato-orange that has great staying power.

There you have it, a trio of pink, mauve and orange lip colours that are perfect for Spring days. What do you think?

Have you got any must-have lip products this month that we need to know about?

I have the L'Oreal Liquid Lipstick thing in the mauve too & I am OBSESSED! It's supposed to be a dupe for the ysl glossy stains which is why I tried it but it's just so lovely! I think the Boots in the Trinity Centre has all the colours so I'm going to be going swatch crazy tomorrow trying to pick another shade I like lol.

I'm so tempted to get the Whimsical shade, but it is quite glittery – in danger of hitting 70's disco territory with that one (but it does look nice!) xx

It's so good isn't it!? I haven't checked out the L'oreal stand in there yet, usually go to Kirkstall (where they have about 4 shades, not good!) – worry if I go I'm going to end up using all my Boots points in one go 😉

    xx

These look great on you faith, I always find the balms aren't pigmented enough on me, but I see them on everyone else so I go out and try them, buy them and get them home and am always left really disappointed haha.

Oh well, I should be saving my pennies for kate spade and the flat anyway 😛 xx

Tease is stunning but mainly because I am obsessed with darker colours for me, but I love them on you! xxx

Honestly, that orange one is really pigmented – you should give it a go when you're in boots next…if the Kate Spade fund can spare £8 (course it can!!)xx

You always looks great with darker colours on! – then again, I reckon you could easily pull off an orange lip with your colouring! X

It must be the time of year, Nina! I fall in and out of love with glosses all the time, but right now it's all I'm using!
I've not tried any Tanya Burr stuff yet – one of the peachy shades does look lovely though, will have to try it! X
