I’m dreaming of a Lush Christmas

First off, I’m sorry.  I’m sorry that I’m writing about Christmas, in October. Yes, I know that the shops are already full of it, and no doubt the TV is too, but I just can’t really get on board with anything festive until 1st December. And even then it feels a bit too early.  Is that a bit ‘bah, humbug’?

Christmassy Lush offerings – all the glitter

However, in spite of my shunning santa in Autumn, I’ve got to admit to a tad of curiosity about Christmas beauty releases.  There’s so much new stuff everywhere and you know, it’s a bit exciting.  Even with a ‘no-ho-ho’.  Of course, in that case, I bundled myself off to the Lush Leeds Spa recently to see what their offerings are this year – expecting two things: lots of colour, and lots of glitter. I wasn’t let down on either count…

The great limited tote bag, design just for Lush Leeds’ Spa by a local artist (er, who the store didn’t know the name of – sorry!)

There’s so many things on offer from Lush Christmas, I can’t possibly mention them all. So, I’ve decided to share with you my favourites.

Let’s dive straight into the bath stuff, shall we?
My pick of the new (or seasonally returning) products are:

Dashing Santa bath bomb: Not only is it shaped like a santa (obvious Christmas brownie points there) but he smells orangey galore – like the satsumas you peel on the morning itself. A really cheerful and uplifting sent.

Dashing through the…okay, nowhere. But he looks busy. Dashing Santa bath bomb.

Butterbear bath bomb: It’s shaped like a bear (you may have guessed), but there’s nothing scary about this fella. He smells like soft and sweet vanilla. Not over-the-top sweet, it’s just comforting in a ‘hot milk at bedtime’ kind of way.

The Christmas Penguin bubble bar. Bubbles are my thing, when it comes to baths. I love oils, but nothing beats sinking into loads of fluffy bubbles at the end of a long day. The Christmas Penguin smells amazing – a blend of citrus (mandarin and lemon oil) is softened by sweet orange flower, and he looks cute too.

The Christmas Penguin. What a guy…

The Christmas Hedgehog bubble bar: This fella doubles as a bubble bar and a softening melt – with rose and ylang ylang, it’s a lovely soothing and sensual scented bath.

Christmas Eve bubble bar – don’t be fooled by it’s unassuming appearance! And the Christmas Hedgehog being all cute and stuff.

Christmas Eve bubble bar: This smells so good. Unbelievably good – jasmine mingled with ylang ylang makes for a more grown-up, relaxing bubble bath. My favourite by far and definitely not just to be used on it’s namesake.

Rose Jam shower gel. Don’t be fooled by it’s lack of sparkle and glitter, or anything festive in the name. This is wonderful. It smells jammy, heady with roses and a touch of lemon. With argan oil and goji berry to soften and brighten skin. A total shower treat, that I wish Lush would make a permanent addition to their lines.

Snow Fairy shower gel. Obviously, it wouldn’t be a Lush Christmas, without Snow Fairy. I’m not really a sweet scent fan, so this wouldn’t be my personal first choice, but for the legions of pink, sparkly gel lovers out there… she’s back! I just felt I had a duty to let you know!

Snow Fairy. She’s baaaaack.

The others:

At the event, we were shown so many lovely gift ideas. A santa lip scrub (that smells of fizzy cola); a matching red lip balm-tint (Santa Baby Lip Tint) that imparts a really good cherry shade; a sparkling moisturising bar (Snow Fairy Sparkle) and even a boozy hand and body lotion (Celebrate)!

Drummers drumming. Looks like a lolly, is a bubble bar. S’all good.

The silvery glittery wonder of Star Light, Star Bright bath melt. Want to try it, but afraid of cleaning the bath afterwards.

There she is again, Snow Fairy but this time Snow Fairy Sparkle – rub onto skin for shimmer, or melt in an oil burner for fragrance.

Do you wanna build a snowman…

We did. Mine’s the worst – of course.

Lush also have some very prettily packaged (and well priced) gift boxes for the season. I’ll give you a run-down on those, and a look inside one of them, later this week.

All these products are available in Lush shops nationwide – call 01202 688 545 for shop details and mail order, or order online at www.lush.co.uk.

What do you think of the Lush Christmas products? Have you tried any of the new ones yet?
