Product love for Radical Skincare
There are some beauty products that you just fall head over heels in love with, am I right? With this in mind, I’ve decided to start a new series of posts dedicated to those lotions and potions that work wonders. The number one post is dedicated to the number one set of products, in my opinion. Radical Skincare – at least those products I’ve tried – definitely deserve this top spot.
I was introduced to the Radical Skincare brand via a deluxe sample set from Space NK a few years back that really impressed me. Fast forward to today, and I’m older (possibly wiser) and in search of really effective skincare products.
Several recent stays in hospital seemed to really take their toll on my skin. Unsurprisingly, my face was dehydrated, rough in areas, and lacking in glow, yet my pores on my nose had become more visible than ever. This made me look older, tired and quite run down.
When Radical offered to send me a new bottle of one of my holy grail products – the Advanced Peptide Antioxidant Serum – I was really grateful. If ever there was a time my skin needed a powerful cocktail of ingredients to help repair, smooth and even skintone, it was now!
In fact, they kindly sent me the Age Defying Exfoliating Pads and the wonderful Hydrating Cleanser too. These weren’t sent for review purposes, just as a gift, but I’ve found all three of these products to be so effective, I wanted to share them with you. So here we go…
Radical Skincare: Hydrating Cleanser
This cleanser is a different texture to the usual straight-up oils, milks or balms, it’s gel-like. It’s really refreshing on the skin, almost cooling and moves extremely easily, so would be a good substitute for a balm or oil if you use them for facial massage.
It’s always good when products smell nice, and this cleanser ticks that box too with a fresh, orangey and uplifting scent.
I found that the cleanser removed makeup really easily (including a pretty tenacious mascara), but as it’s so good for massage and hydration, I like to keep it for a second cleanse (or use it in the morning). After washing off with warm water and a Washi Cloth or flannel, my face feels soft, smooth and not at all thirsty. I can’t imagine not using the Hydrating Cleanser now!
Radical Skincare: Age-defying Exfoliating Pads
These pads are superb if like me, you love a good acid toning treatment. I routinely use Pixi Glow Tonic or Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner, but in the last month I’ve only used these Radical Skincare pads.
They exfoliate with AHA and BHAs so are extremely effective, but somehow they are really gentle. I don’t even get a ‘tingle’ (anyone who’s ever used an acid toner will know what I mean!) with these.
The pads come ready-soaked in the product, and have the perfect amount to whizz around the face and neck – with enough left to do the back of your hands, always a good anti-ageing tip.
After less than 2 weeks of using these, I found that pores on my nose were less visible again (hurray) and the ‘under the skin’ tiny spots I had, disappeared. My face felt a lot smoother (and I’m expecting it to get better with continued use of the Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads), and I have more of my glow back. Marvellous.
Radical Skincare: Advanced Peptide Antioxidant Serum
I loved this serum when I first tried it ages ago, but after almost a month of use this time I don’t ever want to be without it. It feels so calming on the skin but at the same time it’s packed full of active ingredients including hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil and vitamin C – those being the familiar ones – and a whole host of other peptides, oils and extracts that I’m not as familiar with, but to me it’s clear that they work!
This is a true super-serum, and it is reflected in the price (£125 for 30ml), but for its intended market (those of us who are looking for results-driven products that combat the signs of ageing), it’s an investment.
After a month of use, once a day, I can see the fine lines around my eyes are less obvious, my redness is under control again and I haven’t had a single spot. Not one. That is the holy grail of results for me.
This is a resounding rave for these products, so I hope you manage to try them soon and love them as much as I do. File under ‘pricey but nicey’ in your beauty wishlist. If you have any questions about the products, feel free to ask in the comments and I’ll try my best to answer them.
