It’s dark and grey, and frankly I want some warmth and glow in my life. I bet you do too, yes?
Well, I have found the answer. I say that, but let’s be honest here – I’m not promising sunshine, Disney tweety-birds or 30 degrees heat. I am promising a nice healthy glow though.
You know, that ‘oh look, I’ve slept for EIGHT SOLID HOURS‘ glow. Or that ‘aren’t I good, I’ve been at the gym every other day this week, and fit in a long healthy walk every day in between‘ glow. Or even ‘I subside only on a diet of raw, healthy vegetables, I don’t drink, smoke, get stressed, and basically am a serene goddess‘ glow.
*drum roll please* Have a look at Soap and Glory’s Glow All Out:
Soap and Glory’s Glow All Out face powder. Pearly perfection?
Oooh, glowy goodness
Seriously. On my pale, white (not usually that glowing without help) skin – this powder imparts such a lovely ethereal glow. I use a small, teeny-tiny amount on my Real Techniques Blusher Brush -just on the very tip – and swirl it on the top of my cheek bones and blendy-blend-blend. Hey presto. Healthy face.
If I’m feeling the need, I’ll also take it to the temples and slightly across the jawline. I know it’s at odds with the usual ‘contour here, here and here’ line, but for me, it works.
Y’know what I like about S&G? Their cute photos. Yes, I’m a sucker. It makes me buy stuff. Sorry, bank account.
I’ve been wearing this most days lately. I think, for the money, it can’t be beaten. It’s also much easier to work with and much less ‘wow, do you know I’m wearing highlighter – LOOK at my shimmer!‘ than Benefit’s High Beam.
Sorry if you’re a High Beam disciple. I know how you feel. I was between 1999 and 2010. I understand. I know, I know, It’s Benefit. They’re cool and whathaveyou. But it is a bit much sometimes. Time to temper it down a bit. Use it at night, that’ll do. Trust me, I’m old-ish.
My favourite daytime look to use it with, if you need some inspiration, is this:
Base: Kevyn Aucoin – Sensual Skin Primer + Armani – Maestro Foundation
Colour: Stila – All You Need Is Love (on apples of cheeks) + Glow All Out (highlight)
Eyes: Stila Primer (base) + Urban Decay Sin (base shadow) + MAC – Satin Taupe (outer corner and lashline to 3/4 of way across) + MAC Pencil in Raven (upper lashline, this is a ‘pretty’ look so I don’t do waterline or lower lash line here).
Mascara: Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes (top and bottom lashes)
Lips: Nars Chihauhua gloss
Powder: Illamasqua translucent loose powder (only a very light dusting on t-zone)
No filling in brows, no heavy lashes or liner – just light, simple and pretty in pink.
I bought my Glow All Out from Boots for £11.00, but it was part of a 3 for 2 offer, where I bought other lovely things from Essie and Revlon at the same time.
Let me know what you think – do you like this? Want it? Not fussed?
If you own it already, leave your favourite makeup look below, I’m all up for trying new ones out!
