You already know the drill – the start of Summer signals the time to put away heavy perfumes and pick out the lighter ones in your stash. It’s also the perfect excuse to find new fragrance favourites. With that in mind, I’ll be posting a series of sun-suitable smell suggestions on the blog in the coming months, let me know if you have any tips too.
Where to start? Well, it so happens that the lovely people at Neal and Wolf (purveyors of oh-so-delicious smelling luxury haircare) have launched a new product that fits our brief perfectly.
Aura* is a hair and body fragrance, but with the added benefit of giving hair a lovely shine and imparting a UV filter too. I recommend looking for UV protection in haircare if you have damaged or coloured hair particularly, but anything that helps limit sun damage on any hair type is a plus in my book.
Neal and Wolf know what ticks the boxes in the scent department, that’s for sure. Aura is a sparkling cascade of orange blossom mixed with white thyme and saffron. On first spray, I’m transported back to Italy – warm winds whipping up the heavenly smells that come off the tree blossom. It’s not too sweet as the creamy base notes to the spray (hints of vanilla, dry woods and subtle white florals) keep it grounded and sophisticated.
This gorgeous scent works best when spritzed into freshly washed hair, where it lasts all day. It’s so nice to catch a subtle whiff of the fragrance every so often, rather than it being heavy or cloying like some perfumes can be this time of year. It also pairs very well with Nuxe’s suncare range, a happy accidental discovery which means I can pop a bit of Aura on in the morning and then put my face SPF on (Nuxe Delicious Cream for Face), and forgo any Eau de Parfum. Fabulous.
You can buy Neal and Wolf Aura here. Let me know if you’ve tried this, or any similar products – I’m a convert to hair fragrance now!
