Getting my Cloggs on in York

When an email lands in your inbox asking you if you want to go to a shoe shop, it’s very hard to say no. Shoes are a little bit of a weakness of mine – especially boots. My ankle boot obsession knows no bounds. Don’t judge me, I know you probably have a soft spot for a new pair of Converse, or a crippling pair of high heels.

Who says wellies and waterproofs can’t be cool?

I want these. Disco.

Cloggs are better well known as an online shoe store, rather than a high street shop. Their website is great  – stocking all the brands that I like to drool over: Dr Martens, Converse, Ted Baker, Vans, French Connection, Clarks Originals, and loads more (I won’t bore you with a list, check them out at this link if you like). But, as easy as shoe shopping online is, I still prefer to go into a shop so I can try stuff on, see other pairs that I can plot to buy in the future, and have a cheeky look at bags too.

It’s a good thing then, that Cloggs have just opened a shop in York.  I was invited to an event marking the opening of the store with a handful of other bloggers. We got to look round and paw our favourite pairs, drink bubbly, take daft photos and generally have a VIP shopping experience.  It was great speaking to the senior management of the business, hearing about their passion for giving great service to customers, and plans to open more high street branches. They’ve been doing well as an Etailer for over 15 years, and it certainly looked as though their expertise translates well into the physical store.

Converse just went to a whole new level for me with these.

The shelves were laden with beautiful shoes – I loved the Dr Martens display (Docs are my favourite footwear, without question), but I even found a pair of UGGs I liked – I usually turn my nose up at these ugly granny boots, but they now make ‘proper’ boots too, just with the fleece lining, which is not to be sniffed at in this cold weather!

So many Dr Martens. Not enough feet.

I loved these floral Docs. I’m not sorry.

I went to Cloggs with Jenna from Hepcat Blogs – she definitely loved the UGGs as well as the Hunter and Joules wellies, and a heeled pair of Converse (I never knew these existed!).

Jenna with a sweet pair of wellies. We thought these were far too nice to muddy up.

After a couple of hours of debating which shoes were our favourites, it was time to go home. But the lovely people at Cloggs surprised us the next day by gifting us our top-rated pair. I was stunned to receive the ridiculously brilliant pair of Dr Martens Pascal boots in cherry red. Wow.
I’m posting a bit more about these boots soon, so check back for an update.

I love brogues anyway, but these faded leather ones with red laces were perfect.
