Have you started getting the invites to countless nights out yet? Thick and fast they ping into your inbox, giving you the chance to think about how you’re going to drag yourself into doing any productive work the next day.
Urgh, you sigh under your breath. Another ‘enforced fun’ work party – yay. It’s not all bad though. There will be some parties worth going to, ones with your actual friends, where you get to have actual fun. Either way, we can find a silver lining to this, I promise you. That silver lining is… yes, new clothes.

I’m a sucker for winter partywear. Deep shades of oxblood, purple, navy and black. Or glitter and sequins. Or faux fur and animal print. All the stuff that is a wardrobe guilty pleasure. Yes please.
Recently, I was invited to the M&Co Blogger Christmas Party, where we were shown some key pieces from the range (lots of thumbs up for certain pieces particularly), gossiped and gabbled, and sampled a few cheeky midweek cocktails.
Two pieces from the collection have stood out to me as essentials for Winter. They’ll carry outfits from day to night and are just both absolutely gorgeous.
Below, I’ve picked alternatives to the staple ‘party dress’ – for those times you want something different, or dressing up to the nines isn’t a requirement. You can’t go far wrong with a simple pencil skirt and statement top – it suits most figures and it’s easy to make a fun twist on this classic combo.
Below is the video from the party – where you can see me and Lucy from Lucy Loves talking about the standout piece for us, the matte sequin kimono. Please excuse the audio – it was loud in there and we had to do a do-over of the take. We can laugh about it. That’s fine.
What have you got your eye on for your perfect party outfit?
